Great day to cook!!

Today I took a great cooking class.  We make Gnocchi.  It was great.
We made the gnocchi first and then two different sauces.
The they have lots of different classes.
next month I will learn how to de-bone and fillet fish.

This week we got our steel beams.
Apparently, nothing was really holding the house up before.
Sorry the pictures are not in the right order.

The weather was finally a little better this afternoon.
We had a nice walk.
The beach is a great place to explore and find cool things.
Any guesses?

Very busy week

Today started off at the clinic (VIM). Please read the latest article about us.--------> VIM

We are volunteering at the clinic 3 days this week.  It is getting more comfortable and it is really amazing to see patients who are just glad you are there.
People who have not had any kind of exam in over 10 years come in and we not only examen them we are able to usually give them any medications they need for free.

All the restaurants listed have special pre-fixed menus at a special price to try to get people out and such.  We have picked a few we would like to try and will start tonight.

Saturday we are leaving on an unplanned ski trip to Telluride.

They had a special deal on the web and we will take Sam. (They have a doggie spa)

Sam's thoughts on the shellfish

Today things seem to be moving along well.  The weather has finally turned warm enough to take decent walks on the beach.
Sam just loves to explore. He also likes to express himself.

The framers have started pulling out all the rot and replacing wood.
The cement guys came and are filling the big towers with cement.
I am really hoping that next week will show some big changes.

She's naked

They have finished removing all the stucco.  The kitchen wall is another place that was very damaged by rot.

You can see the neighbors house though the wall.  This is were all that mold was on the drywall. Now we know why.

Completely undressed.
We are hoping to see some action now.  The framers should come in the week and do their thing.

Rainy day

Today it rained all day.  It was cold and gloomy.  This meant that the framers came to our house to work "inside". (meaning we have a roof and their other project doesn't)
Although it seems like I am watching grass grow, it's neat to see shapes appear.  This is a atrium that separates Bill and my space from the rest of the house.

This is our staircase to nowhere.  It is really the only way around the house now without ladders but this is where our dining room will be.  It is pretty weird walking up a inside staircase, outside.
We spent most of the day inside by the fire, Sam loves the fireplace as much as I do.
By 5pm the rain has stopped and we all needed a walk to get out of the house.
Wish you were here.

Another week flying by again

Today Bill and I both worked at VIM the morning shift. Bill really enjoyed being a GYN without all the stresses of private practice.  I was trained as him nurse and will assist him from now on. We have 3 more shift planned already.

Below you can see how extensive the rot is.  This is where the rats were getting in.
You can push your pinky though the support beam.

What is this?
Bill and I start classes next week at the Coastal Discovery Museum.
We should be able to answer that question soon

Out with the old, In with the new

We are on week six
About 1/2 of the stucco has been removed

I am sure most of the ocean side of the house will look like this also.
This is one side of  a 19 year old house.

It is neat to see the new stuff going in

We are home

We had a wonderful afternoon walking to lunch, then back to their place
to watch home movies of 1987-1990.
We had a wonderful fish dinner and had another brisk walk home.
(I love walking in DC)

We were supposed to stay in DC until at least Tuesday but when we woke up Monday morning and watched the weather, we decided that with ice coming in, the smart move would be to head home.

Visiting the Roberts

Grace and Sam got along right away.
The mom's with their kids
Harris, Jeni, Bryce and Grace visiting Sunday morning
I made chocolate crepes that everyone seemed to like
